The ultimate guide of what to pack for a cruise to Bermuda will include what to wear, as well as cruise essentials to add to your packing list.
If you have never cruised to Bermuda, you should add it to your bucket list. With it’s pretty pastel buildings, beautiful pink sand beaches, rich history, and fun things to do, you won’t be disappointed.
Contrary to what many people think, Bermuda is not part of the Caribbean. It is a small 21 square mile island in the North Atlantic Ocean. Read more on Bermuda’s location here.

Bermuda has a mild subtropical climate. The average temperature in July is 80 degrees Fahrenheit, dipping to 75 degrees in October, according to gotoBermuda.com
The summer months are the most popular times to visit Bermuda. The cruise season to Bermuda is seasonal and not year-round. Most cruise lines visit Bermuda late spring through to early fall. We cruised to Bermuda at the end of August and it was very humid.
Okay, let’s get to what to pack for a cruise to Bermuda. Let’s start with clothes. You will pack similar to a Caribbean cruise or a cruise to Mexico.
What to Wear on a Cruise to Bermuda
Packing for a cruise to Bermuda is a personal thing. The standard packing lists you see that say pack 7 t-shirts and 5 pairs of shorts isn’t applicable to someone who likes to wear sundresses and is going on a 4-night cruise.
I prefer a different approach. Plan outfits per day rather than using someone else’s clothing checklist.
Consider your cruise line’s dress code.
Each cruise line will have a slightly different dress code but on a 7 night cruise most will have 2 formal nights. The remaining nights will be “resort casual” or “smart casual”. Royal Caribbean calls their formal nights “dress your best”.
The formal night dress code is applicable for the main dining room on the ship.
In Bermuda you will find they dress a little more conservative. Such as Bermuda shorts rather than short shorts and swimsuits are covered up.
For each day of your cruise, plan what you will wear. Think about both sea days and shore excursions.
Plan an outfit for each day, both daytime and evening.

- tank tops and t-shirts that can be mixed and matched with shorts and capris
- Sundresses
- Rompers
Speaking of t-shirts, if you are looking to add a cool new cruise shirt to your vacation wardrobe, click on over to this article. There are 59 great options to choose from.
Evening
Formal nights
Plan for 2 formal nights (on a 7 day cruise). Norwegian Cruise Line has gone to a “dress up or not” approach.
Formal night attire will consist of:
- A cocktail dress
- Skirt and blouse
- Pant suit
To save some luggage space pack one skirt or pair of dress pants that can be worn with 2 different dress shirts or blouses.
Remaining nights (non-formal)
For each remaining evening on the ship plan to wear a “resort casual” outfit. This can be most things other than ripped jeans and sweatpants. Check with your cruise line for specifics. You are safe with things like:
- Sundresses
- Skirts and shirt
- Capris nicer pants and a shirt
A lot of the things you would wear a day in port (other than of course a bathing suit and cover up).
What to wear on a cruise to Bermuda (men)

For men you daytime cruise clothes would include things like:
- Shorts
- T-shirts and tank tops

Evening attire will consist of:
Formal night
- dark suit, light colored suit or at least dress pants and a dress shirt
Remaining nights (non-formal)
- Polo shirts or golf shirts
- Kahki pants
- Casual pants
- Tropical print shirt
Shoes for a cruise to Bermuda
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Flip flops for around the cruise ship pool area
- Dress shoes to go with your formal night outfits. Try to pack just one pair that will go with both outfits
- Sandals
- Runners (sneakers) especially if you are planning on using the fitness center on the ship
Bermuda clothing essentials
In addition to the above outfits you have planned out, there are some clothing essentials that you will want to pack for your cruise to Bermuda. These include:
- 2-3 bathing suits
- 2-3 bathing suit coverups
- Sun hat
- Sunglasses
- Light jacket for any rainy days
- Cardigan or sweater for the evenings (the ships a/c can feel too cold at times)

What to pack for a cruise to Bermuda
Carry-on bag
As with any cruise, you will want to bring a carry-on bag when you board. This is because on the day of departure, porters will take your checked luggage from you at the cruise terminal. You won’t see these bags again until later that afternoon or early evening.
You will want to have with you the things you will need for the afternoon as well as your valuables.
Your carry-on bag can be either a small backpack, tote bag, or beach bag. This is the one I use.
Your carry on bag will include your travel documents, credit cards, medications, and these carry on bag essentials.
Basic toiletries
You can find a complete list of toiletries for a cruise here. You may also want to consider a motion sickness medication as a back up to these 8 non-medicated ways to help with sea sickness.
Hanging toiletry bag
A hanging toiletry bag is great for on a cruise ship as the bathrooms are quite small. Hanging up your toiletry bag on the back of the door is a great space saving hack.
There are different styles available. The one in the picture below is a medium sized one. This is the one my teenage daughter uses. It allows the bottles to remain upright. If you are packing for a couple you may want a large or extra large one.
The purple one below is an extra large toiletry bag. This is what I use as it contains both my toiletries and my husband’s. The weight of the bottles does make it lean forward a bit when it is hanging but I don’t find it to be an issue. I like that the bottles remain standing should you decide to leave it on the counter. Things are easy to find.
Bermuda Cruise Essentials
Selfie stick
Pictures are one of the best souvenirs you can bring home from any vacation. A selfie stick is not only great for taking selfies but to also get angles and views you otherwise wouldn’t get.
Waterproof cell phone pouch
Waterproof cell phone pouches are great for beach excursions. Get great underwater photos and beach play photos while at the pink beaches of Horseshoe Bay. A waterproof camera like a Go Pro is another great option.
Power strip
I always pack a power strip when we cruise. Often there just isn’t enough outlets. You must make sure that your power strip is NON surge protected. This is important, others will be confiscated. This is the one we have, it is cruise ship approved.
Lounge chair towel clips
Keep your towel from blowing onto your shoulder while you are lounging poolside with these cute towel clips.
Water bottles
A refillable water bottle is a cruise essential.
Lanyard
Pack a cruise lanyard to carry your cruise card unless you are going to use one of these other ways to carry your cruise card.
Poo-Pourri
Do everyone in your cabin a favor by packing some Poo-Pourri, before you go spray. We have the lavender vanilla scent. It works suprisingly well. Spray 4-5 times in the toilet water before going. This is especially helpful if you don’t have a balcony stateroom and can’t let fresh air in.
Cruise line specific luggage tag holders
More information on cruise luggage tags and links to luggage tag holders for your cruise line can be found here.
The above cruise luggage tag holders are for Royal Caribbean. You can find holders for other cruise lines here.
Standard luggage tags
In addition to the cruise ship luggage tags, you will want regular luggage tags with your personal identification information (name, address, phone number). Especially if your are flying to your departure point.
I prefer ones that have a privacy panel like these, so that everyone standing at the luggage carousel can’t see your information.
Essential travel items to remember to pack
- Phone charger
- Extra camera batteries/SD card
- Earphones
- Lip balm
- After sun
- Smaller bills for tipping. For example the porter, a tour guide, or for room service
Be sure when packing for a cruise to Bermuda that you leave some room in your suitcase for a little shopping. You’ll find great souvenirs on Front Street in Hamilton, in St. George, or at the Royal Naval Dockyard.
