Mariner of the Seas Sky Pad – What you need to know
The Royal Caribbean sky pad is a free activity on select ships that combines a bungee trampoline with a virtual reality headset.
The sky pad is easily recognizable, it is the big yellow and orange sphere on Mariner of the Seas. It is located on deck 13 at the back of the ship near the Perfect Storm water slides and the Flow Rider surf simulator.
At the entrance to the Mariner of the Seas sky pad is a check in desk. They check that you have the proper clothing and meet the requirements to participate, more on that below. They will weigh you and give you a wristband. That wristband gives the sky pad attendants the information they need to attach the correct bungee straps.
Within the sphere are several individual trampolines. You are harnessed in, and the bungees assist with your jumping. Once you are comfortable jumping you can put on the virtual reality headset.
When we sailed, advanced reservations were not required or even available, you could just show up. There were never any long lines that we saw. If you have an upcoming Mariner of the Seas cruise, you could check the app to see if this has changed and a time can be reserved.
There are other rules you must follow such as you must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, must not have pre-existing injuries, or have certain medical conditions. The complete list of rules are listed outside the Sky Pad area, be sure you understand them.
As with most activities, there is a risk of injury. Be sure to read the warning sign carefully.
Royal Caribbean sky pad weight limit
There is both a minimum and maximum weight restriction to use the Mariner of the Seas sky pad. You must be at least 20lbs and no more than 240lbs. They do weigh you.
Is there a minimum age for the Royal Caribbean sky pad?
You must be at least 5 years old to try the sky pad trampoline and at least 7 years old to try the virtual reality experience. Kids 12 years of age and under must be supervised by their parents.
Mariner of the Seas sky pad clothing requirements
The following are the clothing requirements to jump on the Mariner of the Seas Sky Pad.
- No jewelry
- Long hair must be tied back
- Socks (you jump in socks)
- Knee length shorts or pants
- No crop tops
The longer shorts and shirt requirement is because of the harness and where it fits. It would rub too badly on bare skin.
When we sailed, several teenage girls were turned back from the sky pad because they were wearing short shorts and a crop top. Therefore, be sure to add a longer pair of shorts or pants to your packing list if you want to try the Sky Pad.
What is the Royal Caribbean sky pad cost?
There is no cost to use the sky pad, it is a free activity.
The cut outs in the skypad sphere are lined with color changing neon lights. It is impressive to look at when it’s dark out, definitely check it out at night.
My teenage daughter tried the Mariner of the Seas skypad on our last cruise. Unfortunately, at the time the virtual reality was not working, but they did allow her to jump. She found the harness uncomfortable, but she would try it again with the virtual reality.
Which Royal Caribbean ships have Sky Pad?
Sky Pad is currently available on the following Royal Caribbean ships:
- Mariner of the Seas
- Odyssey of the Seas
- Independence of the Seas

Please keep in mind, this was our experience when we cruised. Therefore, requirements, rules, restrictions, and cost can change.
