Mariner of the Seas Laser Tag

Laser tag is one of the free activities onboard this cruise ship, however it isn’t offered very often.  In fact, on our recent 8-night cruise it was only offered on one day.

This is because laser tag on Mariner of the Seas doesn’t have its own venue.  It is played in Studio B which is the ice-skating venue.  The ice rink is covered, and an inflatable glow in the dark laser tag arena is set up.

Since there is a fair bit of set up required, it can’t be offered daily.

You will find Studio B on deck 3 by the photo gallery.

If you or your children are interested in playing laser tag, look through the daily activities for the week on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship app to find what day(s) it’s offered.  Then tap add to your calendar.

Be sure your notifications for the app are on.  This way it will give you a reminder prior to it starting.  If it wasn’t for that feature, we would have missed it.

Laser tag is a very popular activity with the kids and teens on board.  Get there early as the lines can be long.

Mariner of the Seas laser tag play

Laser tag on the ship is played with 12-14 players at a time, with 2 teams of 6-7.

The storyline is Battle for Planet Z – aliens vs. robots, battling for the last planet.   Robots are the purple team and aliens are the green team.   It is a glow in the dark laser tag experience.

You are randomly put on a team and given a character name.  Laser guns will light up with this information when they are activated.

Crew members will instruct the green alien team to go to one entrance and the purple robot team to another.  You are then given a 10 second warning that the game is about to begin.

Your laser tag gun will show you your score throughout the game.

On our Mariner of the Seas cruise, actual play time was 7 minutes and total time approximately 20 minutes.  That included the time it took for everyone to gear up and to hear the instructions.

After the game, check the score board to see how you ranked on your team.

If you had a great time, you are welcome to play again, you just have to go to the back of the line.

How to book laser tag on Mariner of the Seas

When we sailed in late August 2022, laser tag was offered on a first come, first served basis.

You could not reserve your spot a head of time.

As I mentioned, it was popular so be sure to get there early.

For future cruises, it would be worth it to check on the app to see if this policy has changed and if you can reserve a time.

The good news is that laser tag is free to play on Royal Caribbean ships.  Yay!

This is one of the great things about Royal Caribbean International, the number of free activities that the whole family will love.  Some of the other fun things to do are Sky pad (a virtual bungee trampoline experience), rock climbing wall, play one of the many activities held on the basketball court, flowrider surf simulator, perfect storm water slides, and ice skating on the ice rink are just a few of the examples.

I hoped this has answered your Mariner of the Seas laser tag questions and helped you get excited about your first cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seas

While Mariner of the seas is not the largest cruise ship, it is however a magnificent cruise ship.  We had such a great experience on our recent 8-night cruise out of Port Canaveral to Bermuda, Bahamas, and Perfect Day at Coco Cay. There are some great public spaces, a cool sports deck, and delicious specialty restaurants on this passenger ship. Not to mention great live music and entertainment venues. This major cruise line offers something for everyone.
