I am not a big drinker at all, but when I am on a cruise I do like to try different cocktails. Since most people have drinks included as part of their cruise fare with either Free at Sea or the new More at Sea promotions, trying different drinks is easy. The best part is, if you don’t like it, try something different.
I didn’t think Norwegian Cruise Line had a great bar menu at all, especially at the pool side bars. At least it didn’t on the Getaway.
Several of the drinks on this list were ones I saw others with and said to the bartender “ooohh what’s that one” or asked for something different. In some cases, because of this I don’t know exactly what is in every one, may be missing ingredients, or just plain wrong. But as I said, if it sounds interesting ask the bartender to confirm the ingredients first or just give it a try if there is no extra cost to you.
Pistachio
This frozen concoction I’m told has Amaretto, Baileys, and Blue Curacao. I wouldn’t have guessed those ingredients work together but they do.
The picture below doesn’t show the color well, but it is a pretty light mint green.
Malibu Sunset
This is another one that I saw someone with and had to ask what it was. I was told there are variations you can do but this one has Malibu, pineapple juice and grenadine.
It is sweet but light drink. This was one that I tried on day 7 but wish I’d tried on day 1.
Mango meltdown
This frozen creation is apparently made with rum, Amaretto, mango mix and strawberry mix.
Blue Lagoon
This is one where I asked the bartender for something different. I’m not positive on all the ingredients in this one but could tell there was tequila, lime and Blue CuraƧao.
Mudslide
This tastes like an adult milkshake. It is almost like a dessert.
Grasshopper
If you like chocolate and mint, give the grasshopper a try.
It is a frozen mudslide with mint.
Miami Vice
Norwegian Cruise Line makes their Miami Vice cruise drinks a little different than Carnival does, or at least they did on the Getaway.
I am used to the Miami Vice drink being half pina colada and half strawberry daiquiri. NCL also adds Blue Curacao to theirs.
This is a very sweet drink.
Pineapple coconut mojito
We tried several different mojito flavors and this was our favorite.
This is made with Malibu coconut rum, pineapple, fresh mint, lime, mint stem syrup, and soda water. It is on the far left in the picture below.
Raspberry guava mojito
This was our second favorite mojito flavor. We had this one from the Sugarcane Mojito bar on the Norwegian Getaway.
It is made with Bacardi Superior rum, fresh raspberry & guava puree, fresh mint, lime, mint stem syrup and soda water.
Trying different tropical cruise drinks on vacation is part of the fun. Next time you are cruising with Norwegian Cruise Line give one of these a try. One of these tasty drinks just might become your new favorite cruise drink.
