25 Best Things to do on Mariner of the Seas

Royal Caribbean cruise ships have so many fun activities that the whole family will love.  Here are the 25 best things to do on Mariner of the Seas.

My teenage daughter and I sailed on Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seas in late August 2022.  The Mariner of the Seas is a voyager-class cruise ship.  Here is our list of the best Mariner of the Seas activities.

25 Best Things to Do on Mariner of the Seas

1. Flowrider surf simulator

I’m not going to lie; we were too scared to try this one ourselves.  But we did enjoy watching others, especially the advanced surf sessions.

The Flow Rider is at the back of the ship near the Perfect Storm water slides.  This area had a fun vacation vibe with the loud music playing.

If you stand along the side of the simulator, you will get wet.  They have shaded seating further off to the side and seating right in front as well.

If you want to try this yourself, they offer times for boogie boarding, advanced stand up surfing, and mixed wave.

2. Laser tag

My daughter had the best time playing laser tag, it was very popular with the teens onboard.

Be sure to check the Cruise Compass daily schedule or the Royal Caribbean app for the dates and times.  On our 8-night cruise it was only offered once.

3. Sky pad

**UPDATE: Royal Caribbean has now closed this activity on all their cruise ships.

The sky pad on Mariner of the Seas is a virtual bungee trampoline experience.

There is no cost to try the sky pad.

4. Play in the sports court

The sports court is the basketball area located on deck 13.

The sports court is much more than just the Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas basketball court.  Several different free daytime activities are held here including:

  • Dance fit classes
  • Bean bag toss
  • Volleyball
  • Pickleball
  • Archery

There is also a ping pong table (some refer to it as table tennis) in the sports court area as well.

5. Mariner of the Seas escape room

This is one of the few activities that have an additional cost.  The cost was $19.99.  (The price can obviously change.) Reservations are made on the app while onboard.

This was very challenging but very fun.   It lasts one hour and is played with 12 people maximum.  They like to have a minimum of 8 to play but would play with 6 if everyone agreed.

The room is large, I was worried at first that with 12 people we’d be stepping on each other’s toes, but that wasn’t the case.

One of the best things to do on the Mariner of the Seas is the escape room, there is however and extra cost.

6.  Lounge on the pool deck

The pool deck is a lively fun area.  At select times there is live music, line dancing, and fun to watch games such as Sexiest Man Alive.  What was hilarious to watch.

7. Relax in the Solarium pool area

This is the adults only pool area, you must be 16+ to use this area.

The Mariner of the Seas solarium doesn’t have a glass roof like on some of the other Royal Caribbean ships, it is open air.

The Mariner of the Seas Solarium area has really nice, padded lounge chairs and wonderful day beds.  There is one pool, 2 large hot tubs and a bar.  The hot tubs felt cooler than the ones by the main pool area.

The Solarium area fills up FAST!  By 7 am most if not all the lounge chairs and especially the day beds were claimed.  However, by early evening it was virtually empty.  This is when we enjoyed it the most.

The Solarium pool area on Mariner of the Seas is the perfect place to unwind with a good book in a relaxed environment.

8. Enjoy a milkshake at Johnny Rockets

The best part is that milkshakes are included in both the deluxe beverage (alcoholic) and the refreshment (non-alcoholic) drink packages.

My favorite is the Oreo milkshake.

9. Take in a Mariner of the Seas ice skating show

The ice skating show is located in the Studio B ice rink on deck 3.  The jumps and spins are extra impressive considering they are performed on a moving ship.

There is no charge to watch the Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas ice skating show.

10. Have nachos in Playmakers Sports Bar

Playmakers Sports Bar is one of the specialty restaurants on Mariner of the Seas.  There is an additional cost to eat here.  The nachos were our favorite.  There are also a few old school video games at the back of Playmakers.
